kxt-7453 and 7456, can you turn the back light off or will it stay on even when phone is on hook?

Thank you!

I think it depends on what you have it connected to. In the TDA you have a few settings regarding backlighting. I'm not sure if they apply to the 7400 series phones.
On the TD's the backlight stays on even when idle.

I Haven't seen one but looking it up it said there is a 3 position switch for off-low-high
look at the back of phone, should be a small switch to control the back light.

Yes, on the 7400 series there is a small switch behind the display that can be turned off.

As an aside, I had an issue with a 7730 that was in a bedroom. At night the backlight on the display was like a spotlight. It lit the entire room! I opened up the set and played around with various values of serries reistors in the lead to the backlight. I was able to get the display to a very low brightness that didn't light the room, but still plenty bright to see the display in the dark.

7400 series will not work with a tda. Just the 7600's.

Wow, don't tell that to my TDA-200 on a customer site. They might quit working :-)

Reataylor,
I have 7400's working on TDA 50's and 100's. They do draw more power, so it's important to use the correct power supply.
