124i with a 6 port Call Express voice mail system.
Every morning extension 301 mailbox will have anywhere between 6 and 30+ messages of hangups. The 6 is usually from Sunday nights and the 30 from Monday nights, Tuesday-Saturday varies.
Auto attendant is not used at all during the day. After business hours the system is put into night mode and all calls are answered by auto attendant.
During testing I would watch the operators console where all 6 voice mail ports have their own DSS key, when auto attendant would answer a call all 6 voice mail keys would light up and stay solid, when I would release the test call the 1st voice mail port would go off immediately while the others would take about a minute or more to release.
When I call the voice mail pilot number or each voice mail extension number all works normal.
Any Idea's what could be causing this?
Thanks Dan S

It sounds like the voice mail ports are all answering at the same time instead of Linear or Sequential

All I can tell you (Because I'm not familiar with this system or AA/VM) is that something is probably wrong with PHONE SYSTEM programming, rather than VM programming. All six ports answer because all six ports are ringing. It would 'seem' that the extension group may need to be told that the Call Express is an AA/VM, rather than a VM.

It sounds like the VM ports are in an All-Ring hunt group.

0909 extension ring group assignment: Voice mail ports are in ring group 2, when I remove all but one voice mail port the other 5 will not answer, the reason I tried this is the voice mail ports are in the same departmental group (program 1003), I was thinking when the 1st voice mail port was busy it would hunt to the next one in the group but it doesn't work this way.
0910 trunk ring group. Trunks are in ring group 1 during the day and in ring group 2 in night mode.
I hope one of you see something I'm missing.
Thanks again Dan S

Ahhhh, RING GROUP! By definition a ring group does just that. A call to a "RING GROUP" rings ALL the phones in the group at the same time! The phones need to be in a HUNT GROUP. Only the lowest idle phone in the group rings.

Russ,
I have the manual, the VAU auto attendant programming is different, it references only to the VAU unit not a stand alone voice mail.

The voicemail has to be programmed as a dept group. All the members MUST be out of ring group otherwise it will answer calls without going through the correct programming.
