R7.0 ACS with R3L PVMS
Just increased the mailboxes from 8 to 16. Problem is that the system automatically assigns the mailboxes to extensions that were not currently enabled before. I would like to delete the mailboxes for three extensions that do not need them. I have not found a method for deleting them, just reassigning them. Everything works fine. Just want to delete the ones I don't need. Can you help. I am an Avaya neophyte. Am an NEC dealer by training and practice.
Thanks,
Al

I don't think you can delete them - you could reassign them to an unused extension or set them to answer only. hope this helps - just another thought - you could unassign the extensions in #310 which would make no VM coverage for the 3 you don't want

You need to make it 13 mailboxes then go back and reassign the 13 mailboxes if the ex numbers are not in default order

Must be an even number.
Allow for future growth.
Even though an ACS can go from ext. 10 to 57, PC Card Mail can only go from 10 to 49.
Assign your HIGHEST mailbox to 49, then the next highest to 48, etc.
That way, someone won't hit F14 and accidentally send callers to unintended mailboxes.

Thanks. I forgot about 310 VM Automatic Coverage. I'll use that. Great, thanks. One more problem. I think there's nothing that can be done but I will give it a shot:
This same company has 16 extensions with one "retired" due to the untimely demise of one of the principles in the business (motor cycle accident). I really need that extension port (14) that is no longer used but the owner of the company does not want that extension number used. I was hoping to reassign that port to a different extension # but see no way to do so. It's common practice in the NEC line that I sell. Any suggestions?
Oh yeah, I need to add one more horn to the PagePac 20 which currently has three page horns (30W) attached. I was hoping to save a lot of cable by tapping of the closest horn, but as I see it, all the horns have to be homerun. Am I understanding that right? Can I not tap the nearest horn and run to the new horn?

I'll answer the first question.
Port numbers on the Partner ACS are fixed so there is no way to renumber them like the Merlin Magix can.
