We have an ATT system comprised of a Partner Plus R4.0, Partner II 400E Module and a 206 Module R4.1. We have six lines incoming and use six extensions. Recently, we had a failure on the 206 Module and had a repairman replace it.
Shortly thereafter the phones began doing some strange things. Our intercom line will ring by itself. One has to pick up and hang up once it starts. The system will then begin to ring other ext. one at a time.
It also seems to have affected our fax line. Often, like today, people cannot fax in. They hear it ring, but never connects. We don't hear or see anything except the line light up on the MLS-12D phones we have.
Sometimes the fax will work. Last Wednesday it did. Today it does not. We replaced the fax machine to make sure it wasn't the problem.
Sometimes when the phone rings it will light up both the line indicator lamp on the phones as well as the fax line indicator lamp. Sometimes if one is on the phone and someone else sends a fax, it will disconnect the phone call.
Obviously one would suppose the 206 is bad, but have you or anyone had any similiar experiences? Should we try another 206 just to see? Is the 206 controlling the lines in a manner that would be indicated by the problems we experience? I don't prefer troubleshooting via this method of buying another piece of equipment to "see", but the person we purchased from is out of the country and we need phones. I am looking for any advice.

I have never seen a partner with as much trouble as you are having. I would power down the partner; unseat all modules and put the modules back in; power the system back up and see if this clear your problems Did you have any trouble before the 206 module went out? If you did not have any trouble before, it sounds like the 206 module is causing the problem. If you like, you can call me at 843-215-2665 and we will talk about it.
