Hi There,
I have tried doing my search on google but couldn't find any answer and was hoping if some one could assist me here.
I recently moved in to an office space where I have to use there IP phone (?) which is a: Tadiran Telecom Business System Coral FlexSet -IP 280s
As I make many phone calls, at home I have the phone line connected to a PC and my "regular" phone device connect to a PC and successfully auto dial out using address contact manager.
There are two jacks on the phone both for ethernet cable. One says LAN and the other says PC (but nothing happens after connecting the PC and the phone). Can anyone assist me on how to set up the system? Any advise is much appreciated.

This is the IP 280S? My first thought is that it has to be powered. Not familiar with those phones but power is usually either from a plug-in "wall wart" or PoE (power over ethernet) which comes from the network switch.
If it's the "wall wart" it's something you can do- find it and plug the cord into the phone. If it's PoE make sure the drop is connected to a powered port on the switch if you know what to look for.

Hi Hal,
Thank you for your reply. The power is through an adapter. The phone does receive the power and it works great... But it won't dial out from my contact manager.
Any other thoughts?

So you are saying that your problem is that you want the computer with contact manager at work to work with this IP phone the same as your POTS phone and computer modem at home? Ain't going to happen. The network connection to the phone then to the computer is just for convenience- to eliminate the need to install two jacks on the wall. It's just a "pass through", the computer doesn't actually connect to the phone in any way.
Maybe someone else smarter than I can suggest a solution, I can't think of any.

It depends on a lot of connections that may or may not be present. This topic would be better in the Tadiran section as this is attached to a Tadiran switch. BTW: Steve

Ok then. I'll move it to Tadiran.

Sorry about posting on the wrong thread.
Much thanks to your prompt replies, Hal and Steve.
hummm. I didn't think this could be easy but seems like it is possible? Steve, if it's not a hassle might you indicate what I need to do to get it happen? or a resource, key words, that I should use to search on web?
I tried on my own with what I could think of but obviously failed to find anything.
Much thanks.

Amy, when you say you can not use contact manager, do you have Coral Navigator on your PC?

Hi Mars,
No I don't have Coral Navigator on my PC. I was never given such software.

If I had to guess, I would say that you need to get Navigator on your PC, that integrates with your outlook and some other software so that you can click and make calls. If that is what I am understanding that you would like to do?

Hal is correct the network jacks on the 280IP are just for network connectivity. For the CTI (computer telephone integrationP) you are looking for you need Coral Navigator running on the IP switch you are signing in on. If you have that you can download a client that would allow you to dial out of your contact list. Short of that I don't know any other way.

Possibly if they had a Coral Link Adapter depending on the system, there could be a way of dialing from the desktop, but that would mean some sort of Third party application or custom application running on each desktop wanting this. Easier just to run the Coral Navigator honestly.

I agree, ask about getting Navigator. It does a lot more than contact dialing, so that may play into if the company wants to purchase or sell it to you. That is the best option though.
The "problem" is that this is not a simple connect the telephone to the PC issue. This involves going over the network from your PC back to the IP telephone. This is a reasonably complicated undertaking, hence the not so easy answer.

Hi every one,
Thank you so, much for all your replies. Knowing that there is a way is sure a relief. I'll see if we could make the purchase of the navigator or i'll take a look at that coral link adapter as an option as well.
The office space renting people didn't seem like they knew anything so, I may need additional assistance, but again, much thanks for now!
