We have seen that, but not as much anymore. We just unplug the phone, let it sit for a minute and plug it back in and it's fine. If the first time doesn't work we unplug it again, let it sit for two minutes and plug it back in. Always comes back up. We haven't seen this as much. Usually only after rebooting the phone system.

The stand alone mode is a common problem. I had it. The problem is the chips in the cards were too sensitive. Tadiran has replacement chips for the cards. Pop the old chips out and the new ones in and no more standby problems. I had it on at least 5 lines, every day and have not had 1 problem since the chip swap.

So we found the problem to be the rubber membrane on the 280s just like DigiPhoneMan said. I was curious where anyone gets these. I have talked to our local phone dealer who has had to make some effort getting these, but I"m curious the cost and if there is a place you can order them if you are not a Tadiran dealer. Anyone? Digi, how much do you pay? Thanks,
