I need help. I'm hooking up a teleport on an IPX500,14.66. I have it working at G711, but when I set COS,user_compression to (13), 729-80 and the teleport to 729-80 I lose my voice path, (the callee can here, but the caller can't). Is there some other setting, either in PI or on the teleport that I'm missing?

Make sure in the trunk COS you have the Compression set correctly as well. BTW you can set MULTIPLE compressions..ie (1,13,8,5 etc you get the idea.

I understood Port Washington, I believe it was Richard, said 13 only.

That is the Cos I was adjusting in the system. Is there another COS that applies?

You will also have to look in the dial service as well.

reataylor,
Trunks also have a COS. All the extension ALSO must mach whatever compression you are using. Generally speaking you need to change ALL relevant COS in the system. If you only want to use (13) that's fine. I happen to use multiple on my networks because I like to allow for network issues that may cause packet delay etc. and for remote worker to use 7.29 and communicate with inside people on 7.11.

Finally got my chance to try this again. Set compression in trunk, key, dial services, and in the teleport to 729+80 (That's what Port Washington had said for VoIP). Still one way voice path. 711 works fine.
Seeing as these line are for 911 calls only, it probably won't matter. But I still want to know what I'm missing.

Do you have Diffserv turned on? Also make sure your 16400 ports are not blocked for any reason. I was getting one way talk path on a system that was a on a an MPLS network and the provider didnt have diffserv enabled. Once I turned Diffserv off the calls went thru. I had to wait for the provider to turn that on the network before I was able to use Diffserv.

Diffserv is turned on, and the 16400 ports are open. I works on G.711, just not G.729+80.

Did you hard reset the fxo boxes and the ugw? Weird you are getting one way voice with compression..usually it's the other way around.

Did not reset UGW. Customer would hit the ceiling if I shut him down during the day. I'd as so leave it at G.711. It's only for 911 calls at remote sites anyway. I just concerned if we put one in that will actually be used.
