Hello.
BCM 50, release 1.0.
**disclaimer** I am completely scared and afraid to upgrade this system.
We don't have any VOIP Sets/Stations deployed.
We bought one to "play with" to see about putting it in a remote location.
We didn't buy a keycode. I am thinking of getting buying a 1-seat keycode, but have two questions:
1 - Can someone explain the keycode and activation process? Seems that I need to get the keycode and then have it activated (since I'm not an auth. dealer). Just want to understand how it works. I have found a vendor that will sell me the keycode and will then also authorize or activate it for me (for a fee).
2 - Is there anything I should know about installing a key code for 1 IP Station and interoperability with release 1.0?
I don't have a dealer (see prior threads) and was too far away for any of the reponses I sought here.
Thanks for help!
Matt

The keycode process is not bad at all. There is no reason you can't shop around, you may find a better deal.
If you are not familiar with the BCM system you may just be throwing money out the window.
What is the keycode for? 1 IP telephone license? You'll probably want an IP phone too unless you are comfortable with the softphone.
I would say the task of getting the 1 remote VoIP phone working is more daunting than getting the keycode.

Thanks for the reply. We have a IP Phone 1220.
I'm pretty familiar with keeping BCM's up and running, but have never installed one. I've installed a couple of MICS's back when.
I have three locations that have BCM50's and we IP trunk among them. I keep these locations going, since all three (different) installers have all disappeared, and I can't find small installer around here that (1) knows BCM and therefore (2) that can give a good maint. contract on BCM.
I've asked here before a few times to try to see if any members of this forum are local to me, but I always got, "nope, sorry --- too far".
I"m still left with the question: If I buy the keycode, what is the activation process? I'm trying to understand.

You supply the System ID. They give you an Authorization code. If they are worth buying from they should also give you a key code file. You upload the file to the BCM-50 - it loads - all done.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?
