If the router is giving me the right IP then how is it giving me the subnet of my IP provider and not the subnet of my network.
Any ideas
Thanks

That is the proper subnet mask for a point to point link such as a VPN or PPP connection. You can also run it as 255.255.255.252 but that's mainly used on Ethernet and other technologies that emulate Ethernet.

Allworld I took your advice and I got a Cisco RV042 VPN router. Tried it the other day and now I can't even connect to the router remotely. Call Cisco support and the said that the vpn client software uses 4 ports 443, 500, 4500, 60443 He had me go to this site grc.com to test if the ports were open and two of the ports (500, 4500) are closed. Says it will never work and that I’m to call my ISP and have them open the ports. I’m in Canada with Sympatico. Those of you who are know its useless talking to support in India. I can't imagine that I’m the only one with a linksys router trying to use vpn and with Bell Canada. Anyone have any similar problems
