What software version are you running. Is there a voicemail unit attached. Are there trunk or station modules attached. Is this happening on all ports. A little more info on exactly how things are configured would be greatly appreciated and probably get you the answers your looking for a little more quickly.

We're just moving a small system to replace a broken one. software= 6.02 small norstar-plus 0x32 w/ 2 trunkcards and an expansion card. It's not hooked up to any trunks yet. I have one phone hooked up and when plugged in it will blink like normal and then just go ti "in Maintenance" and stay there. Every thing was working until we couldn't figure out how to reset the whole system and we decided to power off/unplug it and gently pull all modules and software cards taking care not to get any ESD. When re-assembled ind powered up this is what we got. No voice mail and on all ports. Thanks for any help.-john

It just blinks and goes to "in maintenance". We just have one phone hooked up for testing purposes on an rj. As I said it was working. How would the software corruption occur? Also hooked up another set to rule that out. [This message has been edited by jon9max (edited September 13, 2005).]

I'm sure I'll catch s!@# for this, but here it goes. You could short the superfarad capacitor. This component is inside of your mics. You'll need to take the MICS apart and get to the backboard. The component your looking for is about the size of a quarter in diameter. It is one full farad and operates at 5.5v. This component usually has a green label on it. The procedure I use to do this and not cause any damage is to hook up two leads on either side of a 600ohm resistor, hook these to either side of the capacitor with alligator clips and leave it to bleed the charge for about 15 mins. You could also just bridge the two leads of the capacitor with a pair of needlenose pliers for about 2 mins. This will make the switch think that it has never had software in it before, but I caution that neither of these procedures is recomended and to be perfectly honest are frowned upon. You could potentialy damage your switch, so it's up to you.

Jon, first off please fill out your profile. now to your problem. as far as i could figure from your post you have 2 line cards and one 2 or 6 port expansion card. where is your expansion card sitting? you could only place it into 2 slots. make sure it is in the right not the left slot. also make sure that your line cards are sitting in properly. let me know if that helps. DMCsales is right. I can guarantee you have the fiber expansion card in slot one The first fiber expansion card must go in slot 2.
