I have a Compact ICS (7.0 s/w) version that defaults programming when losing power. My customer wants a replacement KSU. I have 2 spare CICS cabinets without software cards. Can I simply swap out the cabinet, but use the original software card? I have a backup of programming that I can restore. It’s been awhile, so I can’t remember if this can be done. Thanks in advance…

My first guess would be that you have a bad supercapacitor in the CICS. I believe most electronic stores would have these and you could take the cabinet apart and replace it. That would lose any programming in it but if you have it backed up to a laptop and can download it, you are more of a PC guru than I am and good for you.
Of course you can use the software in any cabinet of the the same type.
In any event, you should be able to program most anything in a cics in a few minutes.

you can swap switches so long as the software is not a downgrade from what was used on it before.
Really, you called me because your phones are out and I can't see anything in your building because the power has been out all day.

And the supercap is a 1 Farad 5 Volt capacitor. About the size and shape of 2-3 stacked quarters. Digi-Key is where I get mine.
