I have a ModKey with the 4 extra CO lines and 8 extra extentions. The system is in default opperation. I've wired up and installed two 60083s that work perfectly. I also have some 60080s and 1 60010B. Those will ring other extensions and will ring on incoming calls, but will not dial out. The buttons on the top of side of these phones seem to have line appearance but I never can get dial tone. I have no way of knowing if these phones are bad as all this equipment is second hand. Is there a key press sequence to get an external line with the 60080 and 60010B phone sets? Something other than pressing a line key?
Thanks

Have you tried putting them on the two ports you say work, that will tell you if it's the phone or not. Also are you sure it is at default settings? There really isn't much to them as far as programming goes.

To be honest you are lucky it works at all, that baby is old. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

You got mail.

I agree---there isn't too much to make this ModKey work---but you should have the Manual and make yourself familiar with the installation & operation. Was this equipment bought on E-Bay or donated to you?? When were the phones last tested good?? Sounds like bad phones but DTMF's suggestion will determine that. While you're testing---check out ALL the station ports to see if they are good.

I thought the 83's work only om the DM16 with is a later ver of the Modkey?
Also the modkey co and station cards have modular plug type connections. Have you tried plugging the phone in directly on the card?

Are you working with a ModKey BusCom 32?? A big blue steel sided cabinet---not the little plastic Modkey 616?? If your're working with that ModKey 32---how familiar are you with telephony & programming that beast?? That system can be very frustrating. About ten years ago, I got one up and going and said I would never touch one of theose rascals again.

DTMF- I will try plugging into the two known good ports. I do actually have the manual (Amazingly enough) which says to key-in #*HOLDHOLD from station 01 before you do anything else this will initialize the system and default all the line access. It's almost as if the buttons for CO lines are acting like extention buttons??
JW- The system is from an apperantly working install. All the sets are from E-bay (They are kind of hard to find)The stickers on the KSU show 1990 as a test date and the phones show 1991 tests. I'll try all ports as well.
SSPhone- I think any of the 600NN series phones will work with this KSU? Not sure of the version how would I find this out. Also I've tried plugging direct to the KSU ports to no avail.

I'm sure this is a 616. Just a little plastic blue thing I've mounted on the wall. Takes about the same space as three 66 blocks side-by-side.

I do not have manuals for the for the handsets, they can be programed like a toshiba flexable button. I don't know how to do it, so maybe???
DTMF- My bad, the initialize sequence is on an orange sticker on the front of the manual and the KSU. It was unplugged more than 2 weeks I know but figured what the heck and did it anyway. That's correct for the pulse or tone setup. Did that too. Looked at the line access programming, but didn't mess with it since the first two sets worked. BTW all the sets came from the same place.

If it's a ModKey16 then it should be (# 98 HF/MIC)for initialization to Pulse
And (# 99 HF/MIC) to initialization to dtmf

They can use phone #'s 60015,60016,60020,60021,60025,60026,60030,60031,60010,60011

Okey-Dokey---you had me scared there for awhile. You've got the little ModKey--blue plastic with little square expansion cartridges that fit on the top of the main KSU with little ribbon cables. I don't think those 60080's series are going to work. I'll do some checking on this, but I think you have to stick with the 60010s & 11s(BusCom 16s) --60015s & 16s (Ultra Keys) --60020s & 21s (Meritors) --60030s & 31s (Delphis) I don't think the BusCom 32s (60080 series) work very well with that little ModKey---but I could be wrong. I'll do some checking in my old notes. Using my memory --I am at a loss.

The 6008?s are for the later ver of the DM16 and the top keys are for DSS/BLF. The lower keys were where the lines are. And there was a 12 button phone that had lines on the left side and DSS keys on the right.
If you cant take the phone and plug into the right side of the KSU into the station ports and have them work you need to return the KSU its toast.

Does anyone know if the programming is in the system or user manual for the Mod 16 Key... It is the 616 little blue plastic jobber.

I have a client that wants different lines to ring at different locations and not at other locations. He does not want to pay for the manual he "does not need". This should say everything about the client. I know where to buy but not which one.

Synapse:

Check out the following link. Its a cheat sheet for programming the tie/nitsuko modkey (dm16) systems. Its a handy refrence for initial programming on the fly!
