I am trying to setup a directory listing (you know dial 3 digits and find the person) it works fine. What I really want to do is split the main directory into multiple directories (this is multi-tenant system IDCS-100 with smvi4e) I use the subscriber list and setup the various lists and I also have a system created extensions 01, 02, 03 aand 04 same with the mail box. When I set the custom directory (I copied the original directory and added search 02ext and 02mbx) they system will no find any of the names it just keeps saying no user found with that name?

Any help appreciated.

Did you copy the day/night/holiday blocks and tag them according to the tenant they are for?.

if not then you are using the original dir block and you need to move your pointers to the correct block.

wrichey is trying to get an engineer's job at Samsung, but he is too high class, too educated, too nice. Maybe you could give him some suggestions on how to fit into the corporate structure.

I copied the blocks and tagged them to the seperate dir blocks and had those blocks point to seperate ext and mbx blocks and it does not work, when I point it back to the original dir it works fine but they then hear everybodys listing which is what I'm trying to avoid.
Thanks in advance

I beleive in the subscriber list you need to assign extension and mailbox blocks under the correct group number, 02, 03 etc. for your subscribers. Say I have ext 201 in group 01 and 301 in group 02. Your custom directory would search on 02 EXT and MBX and should find 301 but not 201. I also beleive you can have the same extensions and mailboxes in multiple group numbers so if 201 could be matched in both if you wanted. It all has to do with which group number you have extensions and mailboxes in. You can really tennant off your voicemail this way. The E-series voicemail also has up to 99 groups to play around with. Good luck! smile

Actually I have it setup that way
directory1 points to ext1 and mbx1 which has only the extensions for that group.
Same with the other groups
the problem I'm having is when you do a search on directory name through the voice prompt system is says name or extension can be found. But if I point it back to directory (default) it finds all the right information?:

Don't you have to record a directory name in addition to the rna greeting to get this to work?
Posted By: aftech Re: Multi Directory - 01/16/06 05:41 PM
I haved it recorded for all extension and it works with the default directory.
Not in the tenant system I have setup

Ok here is what you're missing. In order for the custom directory to find the extension for say some one in group 02 you need to have in the menu block that they got to the directory from a pointer for the people in 02. Basically you would need these two lines in the day/night or what ever menus you're using.
??? search EXT 02
??? search MBX 02

That should make this work for you.

Did that already that is when I have the problem. Only when I set it back to the main directory does it work but of course the main directory has everybody and I don't want that.

oh sorry you mean as part of the menu prompt area not just the directory block. I give it a shot.
Thanks

Ya that's it basically. I assumed that each company has it's own main greeting and menu block so company 2 which has group 02 in thier menu block they have entries for
??? search ext 02
??? search mbx 02
???? search ext 02
???? search mbx 02

I tried it and it works perfectly.

When I pm'd him I said he was missing something and I couldent put my finger on it.

You hit it on the head Ben :toast: you are the Man.

I really thought it would be the key but I just put it in and it did not work, switched it back to ext 01 mbx 01 and it worked fine, I figure what I'm missing?
Posted By: WRichey Re: Multi Directory - 01/19/06 04:28 PM
you must have missed a step. Lets recap

1 you created menu 1, 2, 3
2 you created day/night/holiday 1,2,3
3 you added exts and boxes to dir 2,3
4 you removed duplicate mbx and exts from group 1
5 you set up the ring plan eg 701 day/night/holiday to ring 501. 702 d/n/h/ to ring 502.
6 you created pointers in the main menu to direct 501 to menu 02 and 502 to menu to.

and it should work

menu->day block->dir->search ???
that should be the sequence of that right.

or am I lost as well.

Grumpy, Ben, Ken, Pvj. anyone

The only step I missed was removing members from the main group. (makes me nervous because its the only group working.
Posted By: WRichey Re: Multi Directory - 01/19/06 08:05 PM
dont remove them yet that is just a final step but man I don know

I am still going to get it on the demo and send you the specs

You can most defanitly have duplicates if you want. Though if you want complete seperation then have them in thier own groups. I set this up on a switch to see if I was correct and it all works. Make sure that each company has it's own menu block with search parameters for the correct group. Make sure that the directory pointer in that same menu block is also searching the correct group. As long as the extensions and mailboxes are in the right group it will work. Other than that there is nothing else required to get this to work. If you still are stuck I could take some screen shots of the config and send them to you.

Do you guys think this is an issue. When I created the groups in the subscriber list block I did it before all the voices were recorded? But I assume if this was an issue only new names would would be affected? I delete my subscriber list and redo them and see if this makes a difference.
And should I start with group numbers beyond 3? or is using 02,03,04 ok? ( I would'nt think this would make a difference)
Posted By: aftech Re: Multi Directory - 01/21/06 07:02 PM
Here are my steps
1. Created a mode for night (only mode this info is important for)
2. Created Three menus for each business
3. Created Three Subscriber lists with the various extensions in them (This list creates both the extension list and the mailbox list 02,03,04)
4. Created three directories for each business
5. Pointed each directory to respective mailbox and extensions (eg. dir 02 searches ext 02, mbx 02)
6. Added ??? search ext 02 ??? search mbx 02 etc. to the main menus I created
7. Also told the main company menu to point to the appropriate directory created for it.

Still stuck though

Try viewing what is going on in port activity when you call in and try to access one of the directories that aren't working. Before you make any test calls while in port activity type in
CP ALL

if it's not on already it will turn call progress monitor on for all ports so you get a better picture as what is happening. It seems like you have the thing set up ok. Not sure why it isn't working for you. Like I said before I set this up on a test switch and had it working in about 3 minutes. (sorry don't mean to rub it in) smile It's also possible that you might have changed something that should not have been changed while trying to get this to work. Good luck man. Hope that we have been of help on this one.

aftech nothing personal but you need to fill in your profile.

we dont know if your a tech or an end user, and the information you are being given is not enduser info.

That said you really should get a tech onsite or contact someone here to get you thru programming. The reason for this is clear, you cant get it working but the techs her including myself have it working fine.

There is still something wrong and unless we can see it we cant fix it. So please consider calling a pro and paying the tab to get it done right.
