what sort of problems if any would you experience if after installing additional cards and the KSU2 cabinet you DID NOT DO a cold start?

You COULD experience "goofy" things---lights lit or blinking for no reason, extensions seeming to not work right, ports being mixed up, MW light lighting for no reason, corrupt data etc., etc., etc. OR everything could be peachy keen...

I wouldn't do a cold start UNLESS I had problems. Just make sure both units power up at exactly the same time or you will be doing a cold start. I like to plug them both into a battery back up and turn it on to power them both at once.

Not having Goofy things like lights or extensions not working but, instead goofy things like calls cutting in and out and internal page being heard over extensions that are on a call and extensions picking up their handsets and breaking into other extensions calls like the lines are not private (have double checked they are private) First thought it was long distance issues but Verizon / MCI long distance has not been any help. Going to site in the morning to do a cold start and reload data. Hope it works otherwise I am back to the long distance carrier.

Cold starts are somewhat scary if you've never done one before, but they really can clear up a lot of odd things. Be patient. It may take awhile for everything (VM especially) to kick in. Once you've got 3 or 4 under your belt---they are much less intimidating. Let us know what happens. Good luck.

Did the cold start, reloaded database no trouble.
Did end up changing out a phone for one person that was having a lot of trouble with her calls cuttin in and out. Otherwise so far so good. Now that I think I have won the problem will probably come back. Knock on wood.

To update, the flakey problems have seemed to have slowed down , but customer is still complaining of a lot of dropped calls mostly on incoming where the one party can hear the other party , but not vise versa. Also they will answer a call and have just dead air. Also can be on a call and get cut off. was thinking it was a carrier issue, but did a search and found that Rather be Fishing and Ttech had issues with dropped calls and found that when a copier or some other electrical device was running on same ac leg it caused dropped calls. The power scenerio I am dealing with is the two cabinets are plugged into a battery backup along with a security box that controls varius alrms thru out the building. Was wondering what the thoughts are on that and what I could check for?

Still fighting dropped calls. Monitored ac outlet with multimeter, it is reading 109 - 115 volts. Seems a little low, could this be the problem?

not likely. The back up unit would level off the voltage dips. You probably have a couple of simple issues that you need to isolate and be able to reproduce. Especially the one way transmission problem. You really can't troubleshoot an issue you can't reproduce, unless you are prepared to replace all the primary components as a test.

Looking for ideas. Customer still having dropped calls and now today they reported that extension 113 can page sometimes but other times it says page is denied. Went into programming and page was not allowed but I know i programmed extension 113 to allow paging. Also, at extension 103 when you put a call on hold you can not intercom any other extension. You can still intercom from an idle state. Also T1 lines are acting up, sometimes no dial tone. Was out at site all morning and witnessed a call that was put on hold and after about 1 sec the light next to the line button went out?
I have changed out the main cabinet but not any of the cards. software is at f20?
Any ideas ???
