I am having bad luck with both the flash and hard drive voice mails. They seem to go down whenever they feel like it. If you shut the system down and turn it back on, it will work fine for days, weeks, or months (you just never know when it's going to happen again). I have talked to Comdial tech support and get different answers. One told me to edit the diskm.bat file and another told me to NEVER change it. But, they can never tell me why. I've also had them go down and not come back up. I then send them away for repair, but no one will tell me what the problem is with them. Has anyone else had problems with the voice mails? It doesn't matter if they are old or the newer ones.

Plenty problems with hard drive mails. No problem with flash drive mails. Find it funny that Vodavi people are having the same issues with hard drive mails at about the same time that Comdial people starting having these problems. Verrrry similar mail systems.. Never put any manufacturer flash mail on line without a GOOD battery backup.

Both hard drive & flash should have a good Battery Back up, but flash is the most sensitive to brown outs.

I always put a battery back up and also surge protection on every system we sell. Is there anyway to get the programming back on a flash card without having to send it in for repair?

Tht's a good question! Will try reading a flash card into my laptop, put the card back in the VM board, make admin changes, rewrite to it from my laptop and see if the "backed up" changes were restored.

You can ghost a good flash to another flash card.

Comdial has a self-extracting zip file that will install all the software onto the flash card. You can download it (and instructions) from CCC - the file name is 8510.exe

I just left the CCC and could not locate this self extracting zip file. Has it been moved? Can you just copy the known working flash to the bad one?

I couldn't find it on the CCC either.

It's filed under a different name now - look for
DX80-727xC-Update-11b.zip
This zip file contains the self extracting exe and instructions.

The update (11b for the dx80) doesn't have the whole system on it. It's only the new drivers and vmail file.

You have to be an authorized Vertical Comdial dealer for access to the CCC.
