It strikes again. Something that should be simple and it isn't. So frustrating. Anyway, here's what the end result should be:

Any time, day or night, an unanswered call at extension 101 should go to extension 101's personal mailbox after 15 seconds of ringing.

I don't want any routing mailboxes, instructions, or DAT tables. Just answer the call so the caller can leave a message.

I've done the AA and RMB on other installs, but can't seem to do this simple thing. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you.

It's easy. CFNA on ext 101 to the VM pilot number. Seriously all phone systems are like that. Now if you are using a ring group and expecting a miracle you are confused. I assume what you are having an issue with is that incomming pots line to ext 101 or a group of phones. DIL to 101 if you need ringing use call coverage. That's it.
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/29/16 05:19 AM
24-09-01 is CFNA for ext 101.
24-09-02 is pilot # of VM.
24-02-03 is 18 seconds. (Delay CF timer).
22-07 is pilot # of VM. (DIL assignment).

Not getting any answer by VM.
I do have all lines and extensions in incoming ring groups. What difference would that make?

Thanks.

Is the voicemail working? Give me a call flow example. Like is this someone calling internally or whatever.

Set 24-09-02/03/04/05 to the VM pilot. That covers all call types, external + internal. It is usually CF B/NA set to VM.

If you are ringing to a ring group - very easy to accomplish - whether you are using a schedule or not, you can adjust 47-11 or 47-12 default mailbox from routing mailbox to station mailbox & select mailbox 1 for x101.
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/29/16 01:44 PM
I tried that first Ken. Maybe it doesn't work because mailbox for 101 isn't setup yet? But the default system mailbox greeting should say something.

I'll be on site this morning and will try it again. Along with figuring out how to park more than one call.

Every day is a learning experience. Every damn day!
Thanks for the support.

Check 22-01-04 - timer for trunk overflow as well as 22-08 - change to 102 for all modes so trunks will overflow to voicemail and then look at the programming in 47

Firstly you should set up VM for 101 and test it.

Then all calls DIL to 101, which is CFNA to VM.

but what is 24-02-03 and 22-07? if 22-07 is set to VM pilot, it will go to Inmail routing box.

Why don't you use VE?
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/30/16 01:35 AM
Thanks Crazyfrog, but I don't want DIL to 101. 101 is already ringing with incoming calls. Just want incoming calls to CFNA to 101's voice mailbox.

I've tired all the suggestions everyone has made, but just get ring no answer. I agree, it should be just set the extension to CFNA to voicemail, # of rings or seconds, and that's it.

Haven't used VE because I don't know anything about it. But it seems to be a popular solution to things. Why not just use the extension you're working on, instead of a virtual one?

If you have more than one phone ringing it won't work like that. Make just station 101 ring and it will work. You'll have to use VE if you want more than one phone to ring, then CFBNA to AA.

Hi Yoda... i had this same request on an SL 1100 a few months back.. I called NEC tech support and they straightened me out in 2 minutes. Do you have access to NEC Tech Support?
Posted By: Ken B Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/30/16 01:58 PM
Not sure why it wouldn't work - I have several systems working this exact same way. Do the lines all ring to x101 (or even multiple extensions) through 22-04 (which is default setting)? If so, they should follow the forwarding in 22-08 (Change from 1 to 102 in all modes) based on the timer in 22-01-04 if the trunks are set to Normal or DIL in 22-02 (Timer default is 0 and will not forward). If you want station mailbox instead of routing mailbox to answer incoming calls, you change it in 47-11 and 47-12. That's all there is to it if all else is default.

It seems like you want calls to come in to a ring group, then if unanswered forward to the VM box for 101? You can forward to a system mailbox, but the NEC VM does not let you forward ring group calls to an indiviual phone/mailbox.
Posted By: Ken B Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/30/16 03:07 PM
Actually Toolie, it does if you follow the steps I've outlined above. I have that exact setup on several systems
Posted By: Toolie Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 06/30/16 03:39 PM
Thanks Ken - that's good to know. I thought those always had to go to system mailboxes.........
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 07/01/16 03:01 AM
The incoming lines ring on other phones, too. And the lines are in an incoming ring group.

Ken - your suggestion seems like it should work. In fact, it's what I tried originally. And I just set it up that way again to try, but same results.

ds1 - I do have NTAC access, and have been hitting them with some other questions the last couple of days. Thought I would try this one out here at Sundance. Spread the love around, you know. I think I'll see what they say about this.

That's odd - Like I said, I have several sites that I've set this up for - If NTAC is unable to help, PM me and I'll send you a copy of a working database
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 07/01/16 03:33 PM
NTAC said that is the correct programming. They asked for a copy of the database to look at. Stay tuned.

Posted By: crazyfrog Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 07/04/16 12:16 AM
I think you are right, if they set 22-08 no answer destination to 102, it will go to system routing mailbox, with will time out to 101's Voicemail.
Posted By: Yoda Re: SL 1100 - Mailbox to answer a call - 07/07/16 03:16 AM
Well, this is one for the books! I eventually called NTAC support and talked with one of their great techs while I was on site and connected to the 1100.

Everything you guys mentioned above was correct, and most of my programming was good. I learned a couple of things, but even after NTAC had the programming all straightened out, it was still acting goofy. The tech was the one that figured it out. This customer has Mediacom (cable company providing dial tone). It seems that the customer's hunt group was setup so that no answer situations would hunt to the next line, then a couple more rings and move to the next line, looking for someone to answer the call. Mediacom was hunting before the SL1100 timer got to forward to the mailbox.

Chased our tail around in circles on this one for a while! Thank you all for the help and support.

Sometimes it just doesn't matter what you do - someone else is running along behind you screwing it all up!!! Glad to hear you got it figured out
