Recently I am not able to get into my Strata CTX 670. I can ping the system but when trying to log in, eManager states that it cannot find the server.

I thought it was my switch, so I connected a crossover cable to my laptop with static IP address. Again I can ping but still same problem.

There is a Stategy ie16 card inserted into the same cabinet as the head unit of the Strata. I am able to get into voicemail fine.

I have used the search function on this site and someone suggested to do a hard reboot. I would like to avoid this as much as possible.

But if I have to, how can ensure that the data on my CF card is updated and backed up?

Secondly, what is the best way to hard reset the system?

Thank you for responding.
For a hard reset, you need to shut down the voicemail first. Press & hold the shutdown button on the vm until the port lights are on steady, wait for the shutdown light to come on, then press & hold the power button on the vm until it shuts off. Then turn off power to the phone system, wait about a minute, then turn it back on. The voicemail takes a few minutes to boot, the phone system 10-30 seconds.

Another way to get in is to enter programming mode from a phone and then exit programming mode. This should reset the network interface so you can log in with emanager.
Before I reset the system, I will try the 2nd option. I am farely new to the phone system so bear with me.

What software do I use to log into the system?
Can I used windows Hyperterminal?
If so, what settings should I set it before dialing in?

Once dialed in, what commands do I type to enter and exit program mode.
nevermind...i see that there is a dialup section on emanager.
How do I enter programming mode from a phone and exiting it?
BTW, I have tried the entering programming and exiting (Exit using ##Hold) at a few different locations. So far, it has never worked for me.

At 2 locations I went to check the IP in Program 916, and the system reset on it's own.

I ran into this today and yesterday. Both places the customer said that they would reboot after hours.
thanks for the exit information. Now I have to go find the passcode to get into programming mode.
It's in chapter 13 of the programming manual.
Okay... I found the sequence to get into the programming mode. the phone I'm using is a toshiba 3000 series. In any case, After gettting into programming mode, the lcd displays "DKT PROGRAMMING MODE" and "SELECT=" I then let it sit for 30 seconds and it automatically exit out of programming mode. I still cannot get into programming mode using emanager. I can still ping the IP address. Is my only option is to do a hard reset on the ystem?

thanks.
If I get into programming mode and using program 9xx level 2 which simulates system reset hardware, will that cause any problems to my smart media card?

Is there anyway I can backup the smart media card using the phoneset? I know that in order to backup the data to the smart media card, I have to format it first then back it up.

thanks in advance
Yes, the phone can do everything eManager can do, using the same program numbers, but it's a pain. I guess you need to enter a program before you exit, try 916.
You should be careful about rebooting if you don't know whether or not you have a recent backup on the smartmedia card.
Got everything to work. I went into programming mode. Went into the 900 screen. Let it sit there for 5 mintues. Exit out of programming mode entirely. Let the system sit for 15 minutes and walla... able to log into emanager.

Thanks all for the help.

When you say programming mode, you mean through the phone right? And 900 Screen? Program 900?

I wish I read this earlier today. I just did another hard reset today. I have not found any other methos that works. Call volume was low so reseting took < a minute. Voicemail takes a while tho.
