My father was a telephone man for over 35 years and recently passed away. I have all of his phone repair equipment and not any clue what to do with it. Is there any place that I can go to to find out what I have and where could I offer this for sale? Any input would be helpful. There is a little bit of everything from 2 completely outfitted work vans to test equipment to fiber optic splicers. Thanks for any help.

I would recommend that you do the best you can to itemize the equipment as best you can and if possible, take pictures. You should post your advertisement in the "Buy and Sell Equipment" category; you will receive better exposure there. It may be worth your while to pay someone who knows what you have to assist you with the inventory. We can probably assist you in locating someone in your area capable of doing this for you. We are truly sorry for your loss.

If you are within a couple hours from Rockford, IL. I could help you go through the stuff for free.
The best thing would be to list things individually with pictures here in the "buy/sell" section or on ebay. But finding someone to make sure you dont separate things that go together would be good.

Thanks. I appreciate all the help. You would have thought after all these years I would have learned something about this equipment, but what I learned was not to get "icky pick" in your hair and phone guys know where all the good restaurants are( I used to play hookey from school to ride with him to work!!)

Sorry about the loss of your father Lucy. Had some ladies when I was splicing that always wanted a couple groups of cable with icky pick, said it was the best hand lotion they every used. Good luck on finding a home for all that equipment.

Does anyone know what the differance is between a Lucent 8510T and a 8410D? They look to be the same phone from the outside. Are they compatable with the same system? I have about 90 of the 8510T's I need to get rid of. Thanks! Bart

Bart:

Usually, and I mean USUALLY, a suffix of "D" indicates that there is a display screen on the phone. I am just guessing, but thought that anything might help you solve your dilemma. You might want to check Avaya's website I (Lucent's new name) to see if they have any information. (www.Avaya.com). Hope this points you in the right direction.

Bart,
Perhaps you should post your question in the ATT/Lucent/Avaya category. Someone there can help you.
