An employee of ours is unable to check his voicemail on his Lucent Aprtner 18 phone. When he is asked to press 0 for messages, the button just takes him back to the main menu. He just started having trouble today. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!

First thing I would do is reset the system, very basically pulling the plug. But before you do that tell us what Partner system you have and what voice messaging system you have. If you have an ACS, feature 59 on any display phone will give you the information we need. For the voice messaging system, tell us what it says when you press the button to retrieve your voice mail (or if no button dial Intercom 777).
The reason I'm asking is that it can be risky to remove the power from some systems. The older Partner Plus and PartnerII may lose its programming if the internal memory backup battery is dead.

Thanks for responding!
The screen reads, P ACS 3.0.2 C01.
When the employee tries to retrieve his voicemail, the phone says,
"To get messages, press 2."
Then later it says, "To listen to your message, press 0."
When the employee presses 0, the phone takes him back to the main menu. It starts over, saying, "To get messages, press 2."

Never mind! The employee says his phone is working now. He thinks the voicemail may have just recorded the message somehow...Thanks!

The ACS has two AAA batteries that are user replaceable for memory backup. If they are low extensions 10 and 11 will have a message on their displays thar says "Replace batteries with power on". As long as you don't see that go ahead and pull the plug, wait a few secinds and put it back in.

Prompts being recorded as messages are rare, but it can happen.
