I even have the manual it says to use a 885a adapter but I used (when it was working) cat5 split into 4 rj11 jacks plug into the merlin system. I just forgot where in the system. When I hit the preprogramed vm button on the Avaya which worked before it ring ext 777 for the voice mail however it will not pick up on the vm side. any suggestions?

Well, the Intuity connects to T&R Ports, usually an 012-T&R or 016-TRR type.
If you have SPM, you can print out the Calling Groups and then determine which extensions are the MEMBERS of the VMI Group (voice mail).
If not, perhaps you will need one of the Members here to help for a small fee.
Either way, it does not connect to the 800 Module, that is for LINES to and from the Outside.

The Audix voice cards are strange animals. They have an 8-conductor jack, but they are wired USOC RJ-25 - 3-lines. (Line 1 on the center pins, Line 2 on the 2 straddling line 1, and line 2 straddling line 2. Nothing on pins 1 and 8 of the 8-pin jack) The 885a adapter that is sent with the Audix takes 3-single line extensions into 3 of the jacks, and then a 6-conductor line cord goes from the adapter to the Audix voice card. Or you can simply wire up a 3-pair jack and use a 6-conductor line cord. ![[Linked Image from touchtonetommy.com]](https://www.touchtonetommy.com/images/885a.jpg)
