DEX, it has a gateway box that has 4 co trunk ports. I hear you can link 4 of the gateways together.

Goofy thing....4610 for one-x is around $50 more than the 4610 IP.

I found out that the One-X can support up to 20 extensions. The Partner ACS can handle over 40. Seems like the One-X needs to expand slightly to be a true replacement for the Partner ACS.

Now we all have to learn how to program routers. (lol)

OK, on the learning website they have a free class (technical and sales).

The 4610 and 4621 ip phones are the same model, different software. If they outgrow the One-x, replace the software in the phone and it works w.IPO.

Problem is..the gateway is around $450. and each phone is around $450 also. More expensive than Partner.......smaller than Partner....Not as many features as Partner...

Ahh, yes, but it is IP!! Therefore it must be better as it is the latest and greatest technology.

On a seriouse side, this and its cousins and generations a few out from now will be the future. Pricing will come down like it did with digital, but we could have to wait a little while for that to happen.

And there lies a possible problem.

The Partner ACS system I maintain has more than 20 stations (2 of which are door phones). I'm sure that there are many more Partner installs out there with more than 20 extensions.

So out of the box, if anyone who has more than 20 active extensions wanted to upgrade from the Partner to an Avaya VOIP system, they would have to go with an IP Office system.

I have played with a demo unit at Catalyst's office and even the techs there were not sure of a good placement for the one-x just yet.

If in a future software version it can be networked to an IP Office then it would be a great product for branch offices.

so you are saying that you can link 2 together over VOIP, one location and another location, like an IP office.

No you can not link them. The only way they are linked is when on the same subnet to add additional CO's

It is a slick little product but not "ready for primetime" in my opinion. There are too many cheaper solutions out there that can do more than what the One-X can do right now. frown
