They may be able to if the system is running in Basic mode. This mode programs almost like a Partner system.

Yeah, unless Basic (partner) mode, Manager is the only way. You MAY be able to browse to the IP of the box and use Web Admin. But that would have required the installer to trasnfer the web admin files when it was upgraded. And you would still need the password to do so.

I recently changed the name of a phone on an IP Office system in a national auto parts chain from the managers extension. Was in the office in front of the phone. They were moderately amused.
