Good Day

I am posting only a couple of the questions that I have and decided to post them seperately.
I would like to say that I am reading the manuals but for some reason they seem lacking compared to earlier manuals for SBX OR maybe I just learned what I needed and those manuals now make sense...

What is the best way to set up a general mailbox?
I have never liked doing this because felt like no one ever listens to messages in these, but I have a client who used this on a former (Avaya) phone system and would like it on the Summit 100

Using VSF (which I assume is the same as AA but need to try and figure out what VSF stands for) -

General Mailbox for night callers.

Can I show notification of message waiting on a 9224 phone?

Sort of related to this.
Can I or how do I transfer a caller in the VSF directly to a mailbox to bypass ringing the station?

Thanks in Advance and all though I need more help I will wait to see if anyone is available.

Answer:

After consulting with another tech and further reading, I think this is the best way to set up (create) a general mailbox or virtual and a flex button for the mailbox.

Using the Web GUI to create a VMAILBOX Flex Button

Assuming you are setting the default VM Group *440 and VMID number defaulting the station number (ref: PGM 127 Station Default VM attributes)
I think defaulting the VMID number to the station will not allow [Call Back] to select another Mailbox to manage. Therefore creating a VMAILBOX flex button makes it easy

1. Station Data>Flex Buttons

2. Destination Type>Programing Numbering Plan>Input>*440{stationNumber}
a. Station Number can be any station number in your numbering plan.
i. in my case it was 200 -> *440200
b. <Click> [Save] ->
c. VALUE is display as Multi-VM *440(200)

Note: You can use the flex button to access the VM for the virtual station just like [Call Back] to set up the Mailbox message and manage the messages received. The button led will light red and blink when a message is left.

3. Option: Cascade Mailbox (1-5) in PGM 127 you can set the VM Forward Option to MOVE (move to another station's MB and delete) or COPY (copy to another station's MB) setting the target to one of the Cascade Mailboxes.

In my case I decided not to utilize the cascade feature forcing the user to log into the mailbox and manage because I am using the VMAILBOX flex button.

Did I leave anything out? I could have.

Yeah this is the same thing I normally do when a customer wants a general mailbox. Just pick an unused station port and use it's mailbox as general and assign a flex button to open it.

You can also create a virtual extension "VEX" for the mailbox under Device Port Num Change(101) and click Virtual Registration in the top right. Then select Device Type: station, Device ID: VEX, Virtual MAC: Yes and click register. It will create a virtual extension on the system that you can view under Device IP Plan(103). I think the only reason you may want to do it this way is if you don't have any physical station ports available.
