I am at a cutomers site with an ongoing issue with RCN
SL1100 with PRI (Partial ) 7.21
cant make any calls out on PRI Trunks
incoming seems to work fine
RCN in process of setting up vender meet just wondering if it could have anything to do with system
I dont believe it was installed be an NEC Dealer
using Adtran rebooted all devices so far RCN dosent seem to have good diagnostic from far end
I can grab the channel and then the call drops and I get a slow busy signal
any thoughts

not sure if a partial PRI requires the PRI card to match the number of channels
its currently set up as a squared key system
it looks like the had pots line 1-8 at one time and added PRI Card 9-32
the phones have 9-14 on the 6 keys on the phone
incoming works fine
outgoing is a problem

I can tell you it's programmed wrong already. You need to be using CAP keys and they need to be unique. Trunk groups need to be assigned and you should be using PARK keys using dial 9 to get outside calls. Trunks need to be set to DID. I cannot tell you how many systems I have to re-program even from new NEC certified techs. Make sure you know how big of a PRI you have and make sure the trunk group is set accordingly. Squared systems using PRI is a huge no no.

Is this a new issue? Or has it been a problem since installation? If it's been going on since installation, probably just an issue with configuring the proper number of channels on the PRI. If the carrier can't figure out how they provisioned it - may be a sign to change carriers!! In the meantime, you can program lines keys on a phone for all 23 channels to figure out which ones are working and how many active channels to program. Unique CAP keys are SV programming and not SL - I would use Loop keys and Park keys rather than squaring - minor training issue for customer - saves a lot of real estate on your buttons. If it's a new issue, I would make sure the carrier has reset the D channel. If you get a vendor meeting, make sure the ticket states the tech needs to bring a T-Berd - oddly, this is not always apparent to the service coordinator.

I’m just getting back to this thread now I gave up the carrier didn’t seem to be interested in anything I think we’re going to sell them a Hosted Phone system that was the first time I was at that site I’m assuming everything worked at one point
Yeah that’s the first thing I saw thought of when I was working on the phone system about the cap keys but then on the SI 1100 you don’t use cap keys
The carrier couldn’t even tell me if it was a full PRI or a partial PRI they just said it’s being billed as a partial PRI very strange
They were getting incoming calls just no outgoing and the incoming calls were coming in on channel 1
We never set up a vender meet Nobody seem to wanna play ball I was going to bring another phone system out to test but like I said I think they’re gonna try to go with a Hosted solution
Crazy 😜
