Working on a new setup (IP500 R11) which will use primarily J159 and J179 SIP phones.
I would like to edit the configuration so that if a phone is reset, it will come back up and enable the "Internal Auto-Ans" and also disable "Button Clicks." I have played around with various settings on the 46xxsettings file, but can't seem to get the file to take...or it breaks everything else. Anyone have a guide on those two settings and how I can get them set permanently?

What you need to do is allow the default 46xxsettings file. Then edit that. That is not recommended though, as things change in the config that will change the default settings file. For this reason, they created the 46xxspecials.txt file.

An alternate way, would be to add a short code to the users....which addresses the Internal Auto Answer:

*DCP
Dial
40000000,0,X,Y,0
l/g 0

(X affects internal calls and Y affects external calls)

With the digit set to “1”, this is normal operation.

With the digit set to “2”, this will give 3 beeps (heard by both parties) and answer the call.

With the digit set to “3”, the agent will get 1 ring cycle, and the call is answered, with the external party not hearing anything…

They would like it to always be enabled. I have never messed with the 46xxspecials.txt file, but doing a little reading on it, looks like that is the way to go.
Problem I have, is I don't know the exact parameter that needs to be manipulated in the file to change this setting.

I dont think there is a setting in the 46xx file.
I would use the above, or create a short code. Dial extension, and the phone rings, dial star and extension, it will go to speakerphone:
S.C. *2xx
T.N. 2N
Feature DialDirect

Press *201, it places a speakerphone call...just dial 201, and the set rings...

I had tried that very same shortcode (using direct dial) and that is when I discovered that Internal Auto Answer on the J179 phone was off. The phone just rang like a normal intercom call. When I turned the Auto Answer on from the phone, then the Dial Direct worked as expected. However, if the phone reboots, then Auto Answer is disabled again (and button clicks re-enabled). I was hoping that there was a setting in the file that addressed both of those settings, but it isn't looking like there is.

I am sorry, no time to lab this up. I would go with the first option...Create a user short code with the below

*DCP

I haven't been able to dive too deep into this either. I'll sure give this option a look and see if the subscriber likes the solution.

Thanks for the suggestion!
