We have a Vodavi 5000 system with 24 button sts phones. We have 3 incoming phone lines.

I've tried and just can't figure out how to do the following.

1. Someone calls in on the external line.
2. No one answers the phone after x number of rings or specified time
3. Forward the phone call to the company cell phone

I've tried setting up a speed button that dials the cell phone number and then programming the 'no answer' forward button on the phone - but during the programming per the manual, it won't take the button presses for programming the speed dial button.

Any thoughts as to whether this is even possible?

I am not sure I fully understand your post, but I will give it a shot. You said the system is a "Vodavi 5000" which means it is the Triad or infinite system "Mach 1", if memory serves me correct, so I am not sure how you got a "24 button STS" phone to work with it at all, but maybe you meant Infinite or Triad 24 button phone. If you are entering the speed dial under a button and "it won't take", that means you are trying to put in on a button that is programmed as a CO, Pool , or Loop line most likely. You would have to either try a different button that is available or go into system programming and blank out the button, and then re-assign it. That being said, you also may have to use a system speed dial bin instead of a station bin depending on the software version you have. It's been a while since I worked on one so maybe someone else can steer you in the right direction if that doesn't work.

It really doesn't matter which system it is. They all use the same programming for the most part. In this case, you want to make sure that the cell phone number is stored in a speed bin higher than 9020 (a system speed bin). I like to use bin 9099 for applications such as this.

Then, set your CO lines to preset forward to this bin number in flash 40, page B. You can establish the time delay you want before this forwarding occurs in flash 40, page C.

The nice thing here is that you can change the cell phone number on the fly at any time, without having to get involved with system programming. Just change the speed bin entry from the attendant station. Don't want to use the feature anymore? Just delete the number in that speed bin.

Ed, I will try that. I had previously setup speed bin of 9015 for the cell phone number. I'll have to read up on doing the flash 40 page X programming steps as I've not messed with that much. Is there an 'quick' and easy tutorial on that anywhere?

Unfortunately, not anything that we have here. If you have the manual, just focus on the page B and C programming for the CO lines. It's not much.
