When I go off hook on my polycom I am not able to dial an internal extension. When I go off hook then on then off and then on I get a stuttering dial tone and then I am able to dial an internal extension. What is causing this? Thank you.

Sounds like the port is set as a house phone to grab an outside trunk. Look under the station and see and if it is what is being sent. Going on off on hook is doing a hookflash and is getting you internal dialtone.

If you wish to keep it that way so that you don't have to dial 8 before dialing an outside number, you can simply dial * (which cancels the hosue pho9ne feature) to get intercom dialtone.
Ain't technology wonderful? Nothing like being on the bleeding edge.
