I have a customer with a Axxess 9.100 Dual Cabinet w/EVMC running on Linux. I know nothing about Linux, is there a utility similar to scandis or defrag?
I'm concerned my band-aid may not have solved the underlying problem.
The problem: Initially the customer was not able to access voicemail, I had them shutdown the EVMC and reboot the switch. I was told that they still had no access. When I arrived on site later in the day it was working fine. I left.
The next morning, they again had no access and could not place out bound calls, loop start tunks on a LSC. What's the connection? Beats me. Long story, made short.
It seems that the serial ports had locked up, as we could not access programing either. Pulled the CPC and removed the battery for 10-15 minutes, rebooted and now the voice mail boots up and we can access programing. Saved the database, ran the db test and restored the database. After the reboot we could not access programing and the EVMC did not boot up. (Waited 10 minutes) The serial ports locked up again? Removed the CPC battery for 10 minutes once again, reinstalled the CPC (no loss of database) and it booted up again.
The switch and voice mail have been working ok for a week now, is anyone familiar with anything similar? The whole thing just didn't make any sense. Am I right to be concerned about future problems?

Did you review the error logs?
What are the serial ports set up for? (I've seen serial ports set up for SMDR ,but not connected to anything, cause some glitchy stuff to happen.)
Ain't technology wonderful? Nothing like being on the bleeding edge.

Thanks.
I did run error logs on day 2 when I took over the service call. I'll check my tech's pc he ran an error log late on day 1, several resets into the process.
I knew, thinking about it the night before, "check the serial port's config" but forgot all about it when I was on site. I'll check my database and see, and make any corrections next time on site.

Before replacing the card you might take a look at the boot code on the CPC. If it's out of date this might be a quick fix. Only takes a few minutes to upgrade.
