We have a customer with 2 Mitel 5000s that are networked.

They claim they had an external music on hold message from the primary site playing at the secondary site, which stopped working recently.

There is no MOH file in either site and each site uses a different carrier, so I can't see how they ever had "networked MOH"

Does anyone have any idea how this would work?

As far as I know this can't be done. I have asked this before by customer and support tells me no as well.
If node 1 answered a call from node 2 then put them on hold they would hear the MOH from node one.
You need 2 sources.

Not sure on the 5000 but on the 2K and 3300 systems that were networked you could have the main system with a MOH source and have all use it for hold. There was an option in COS for Local music source. If set to n then it would use the remote MOH. Does the main system have working MOH?

Cans and String has it exactly right, there is no "networked" MOH but the original music source will follow a call routed off-site.

Sorry for the delay, thanks to all respondents.

The main site has an external MOH player.

Cans - I got the same answer from Sales Engineering.

Can't convince my customer though!
