Is there a way to make the IPO assume every call is an outside call and make intercom work only if you hit the intercom button?

If you want to dial 10 digits, even for local calls, it can distinguish between internal and external calls.
But really, what is so hard about pressing 9 for an outside call, instead of pressing a line button for an outside call?

Good question...according to the customer dialing 9 is an unnecessary step. All they want to do is dial the number and dialing 10 digits is fine. They have been full of demands like this for years.

Yeah, they want to to work like a key system and I don't see a problem with that. Just one of the many problems with the IPO. If a business has a half dozen lines why should they be forced to have pools? All they want to do is dial the number and dialing 10 digits is fine. They say that now but if they don't want to dial 9 having to dial the three digit area code for everything is realy going to piss them off. -Hal

I'm with Tommy,....... what's the big deal about pressing (9) first. You have a "hot" dial pad.

OK. What mode is the system? Basic, Essential or Preferred? What release is the system?
If basic mode, you can put all trunks on all stations.
If Essential Edition, you can only put all trunks on up to 10 stations.
If on Essential or Preferred, and they dont really need the trunk appearances, then build short codes so they dont have to dial 9.
As long as the exntension range does NOT begin with a 1, then build the appropriate shortcode of 1 plus 10 X's. They will have to dial 1+area code+number.
Personally, I do not set my systems up to dial a trunk access code, but the customer wants what the customer wants.

This is a 8.1 preferred with SIP trunks. I built a short code to eliminate the dialing "9" but that does not really help because of their set up. Their company is set up with 3 digit extensions, it goes like this.
Sales 200's (201 thru 260) Executives 300's (300 thru 340) Accounting 400's and so on... The problem becomes without dialing a access code it matches the first 3 digits to an extension and calls it.
