Hello! I am an IT consultant that has a little bit of experience with phone systems (NEC and Nortel). A client of ours has an IWATSU and they're having trouble with the vendor that normally services it and asked if we could help. The problem is that they have an IX-Segway that seems to have lost it's IP address. I've tried using hyperterminal to communicate with it to check the settings, but am having no luck. I connect via HT but it doesn't display anything on screen - no button presses or anything seem to change it. The client had a PDF of a service bulletin that describes the Segway. I copied the Hyperterminal settings from there (19200, 8, none, 1, hardware), but could I be missing something? I'm connecting the console cable to the Program port on the unit. Thanks for any suggestions!

The usual problem that arises is use of a common 9 pin adapter instead of the FAX065 proprietary connector. As for as the interface goes, there really isn't one. When Hyperterminal indicates a connection, typing the command lines listed in the tech bulletin, followed by the desired setting, then enter, shows info on the screen. Try connecting then typing 'show' (no quotation marks) to see just what is stored in the Segway config.

Use the KEEP command, followed by a power cycle to store data.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
