We shut down our VMS this past weekend in anticipation of TS Hanna - whoops! When we tried to bring it back on-line, we've had serious issues accessing messages, or indeed, any part/menu of the system at all.
We are running an executone system, with an Infostar VMS system. Both are programmed correctly (at least to my untrained eye). All of the information in the Infostar system is correct (mailboxes, routing, etc). The problem is as follows:
When we dial in, and get through to the voicemail system - the message (from the receptionist) asks what extension you want to dial, if you would like to dial by name, or if you want to speak to the operator. But, when you dial the extensions, or press # to get to the menus, the message just keeps going, like it didn't recieve any command at all. The bigger issue with this is that our 800 numbers now will not ring through to the proper mailboxes when on Night mode.
Please let me know if there's anymore information needed to help - also, if possible, where I can get that information - because I'm only starting to work with this system.
Thanks

Well - we have an Executone phone system, not quite sure of the make and model so to speak. If there's a way to find out the system info, please let me know...I'll be happy to post here for you. Again, the Infostar system says Infostar VMS AVX(?) v 6.0. It appears to have kept all of the programmed information (Company info, mailbox configuratios) but does not seem to be recieving the "tones" from the touchpad on the phones (either external or internal dials). In researching both manuals, I found a reference to PORT numbers 1 and 2, for the RS332 system? When checking the system config on the Executone system, neither port was configured as they mentioned in the book. Don't know if that helps at all...but?

Check the power for the analog ports. If you don't have power you will get audio but it'll be so low that the VM won't be able to hear the tones.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out our analog card was fried! Had to have it replaced...as soon as the new one went in - all voicemail issues were resolved. Thanks again!
