Years ago I was told by Sprint Products Group that if you do "a lot" of number swapping and changing the default numbering plan that it can cause problems... of course I do not remember if it was only with:
  • F1.FXX
  • F2.FXX
  • F3.FXX
  • F4.FXX
  • or F5.FXX

versions of software or all versions.

Side Note:I worked with a guy that would sit at his computer and DIR SWAP rather than taking the time to swing a jumper, that's how I found out about the 'problem'

I wouldn't use it to move extensions around from desk to desk. I could see how that might create software issue's. Moving a jumper is easier and faster anyway. I have used it to move an extension to another port if the original port went bad on a card though. Doing system programming for a new install we used it to keep the extensions in consecutive order. I seem to remember directory swapping to set up the voicemail ports as well.

The ext 328 is an important extension and i want to keep it alive but it always picks up a line7 automatically without anyone there..So that is why i wanted to do a DIR SWAPPING, I am using F4.F37 Version on a MTX system

I am thinking of not giving access to line 7 and line 8 to ext328 for now, does anyone know how i can perform that task ?

A DIR Swap should be okay.

Extension/Catagory 6 is DIR SWAP and LINE ACCESS ASSIGNMENT is just below that.

Do you have a copy of the manual?

I tried the line access assignment and it still picks up line7 on its own so what i did was using Function#3 to remove line 7 and to my greatest surprise it started to pick up line 3 automatically so i replaced the DDEI Card and it has not done that anymore so definitely it means the card was bad.
