We used to have a Tadiran SL and had SMDR working just great. Now we have a brand new Tadiran IPX500 and we can't seem to get SMDR to work (output to printer). I have checked the punchdown terminals for COM1 with an Oscope and it doesn't look like I am getting a signal.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working?

You have to have something wrong with that aux connector coming off the backplane. Easiest way to check is hook it ip to a serial port on your laptop. I mean, there are 3 to choose from and really all you need on a db9 is pins 2,3,5 and you have to reverse 2&3 to null it.

Remember there is only one signal ground on that punch for all three com ports. You will also have to go into TERM to set baud rate etc. Then you have to goto SMDR to choose the correct output port. You SHOULD be able to get a command prompt off the port if you have your cable done correctly.

Coral Tech,

Thanks for the information. I will try what you suggested and see if that works.
