I'm looking to prototype a ruggedized dialless phone for callcenter use. This isn't exactly the right board, but it's as close as these forums have.
Does any one have any suggestions where I could find either a kit or assembled RJ-11 single line phone PCB suitable for installation in a small metal case, with SPST hook and mute switches, and a 2.5mm headset jack connection?
Optimally, I'd like solder-hole connections for line and headset; I want to ruggedize that interface as well.
Perhaps a reference board implementation for some manufacturer's one-chip phone?
I've done some googling on this topic, but it seems markedly resistant to providing good results.

Well, I managed to not post that answer. Try it again, John. (Alzheimer's/old-timers) Try googling/dogpiling "Prison phones" or "Corrections phones". These folks build truly bullet-proof phones, as well as payphones that take a terrible beating. I'll bet they can guide or provide whatever you need. John C. (Not Garand)

Viking Electronics makes some "board-only" variations of their specialty phones. They even have ones that are sealed and can literally work under water. They do have some pretty innovative ideas and are a small-enough company to possibly address a custom production run for you. Check them out at 715-386-8861 or www.vikingelectronics.com Ceeco also makes very rugged-use phones and may sell you just the guts. They can be reached at 888-357-0798 or www.ceeco.net .

I will look into all three vendors; thanks.
I'm mostly interested in "it's a PCB", though; I can do sufficient "rugged" myself, I think. So any phone board that meets the specs will do, I think....

I'd give Sandman a call. If Mike doesn't have what you need, he will make it. https://www.sandman.com/index.html --------------------------------- MrG

You know, I get the impression Mike's trying to sell out and retire...
But he hates my type, anyway. :-)
