Want to add a digital station to a remote gate. What is the best protection to use for this?

I'd use a NID with gas tube primary protection and an ITW/Linx #UP3B-3 as secondary on both ends. They aren't cheap, but they seem to work really well.

Thanks Ed

Next question, what would you use for an gas tube protector NID for just a single pair?

Like Ed said, us a NID and then a secondary. We just installed a line for a gate system. We used a 4 pair DB cable tied to a NID at each end with a Ditek 130V as the secondary. Depending on the type of phone (digital or analog)Ours was an analog so we used a 130V but for digitals we use a 50V. Make sure you have a good ground bond as well.

PM sent to Merritt.

NIDS are so commonplace nowadays that they are cheaper than buying a single-pair station protector, not to mention that those aren't as easy to find in-stock as they used to be.
