I have Iwatsu 1X-12KTD-3 phones and an omega-voice system. have used it for several years and discovered today that for the last 3 weeks our message indicator lamp has not been letting us know we have a voice mail. I'm sure it is a matter of pushing a few buttons but i can't find in any of the manuals what to do. please help.

It's pretty rare for that feature to just up and quit working. The large LED at the top of the phone has to be associated with the actual mailbox button on the phone in order to light when you have a message, and the voicemail system has to know what code to dial to light the light. Most times, default values are used, but you have to get in to system programming to check/change these values. Your best bet is to call your vendor and have him check your programming for you. If it has recently stopped working, but did work in the past, the system database may have been corrupted and needs to be repaired. Or it may be a case of extensions being moved around to new locations without moving the extension programming that goes along with them.

Unfortunately, this is not an end-user sort of fix.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

It could also be an indicator of some ports on the voicemail going back (usually port 4 for message lights.) If the phone's voicemail key is not lighting up either, then there is something preventing the voicemail from telling the phone system to light to light on the extension.

I have had the same problems checked all ports by calling them and it turns out that the card has to be patched by a cert.tech
