The Omega-phone 924 will be released fully on Dec. 1 07. This phone system can't be programmed from the programming software they use now. just through a phone..Don't know what they were thinking there...Opinions??

The IWATSU 924 keyset is the same keyset used on
the XBLUE networks system.

This is interesting isn't it ?

The XBLUE is a TECOM made in CHINA ?

Also the configuration is the same 9x24.

We'll have to wait and see.

The IS a programmer and tech documentation availale at the dealers' website already.

It's gonna be all about the pricing.

Hopefully the pricing will allow Iwatsu to compete against some other smaller systems.

I thought you said that your system was down...

Saw this system on the bench down in Texas, looks like it will be a winner for the small key system installs.

Also saw the pricing and it looks pretty attractive.

Yes this is a Tecom. I think Iwatsu is the manufacturer for XBLUE and rebadged the system.

As to the fact that it can only be programmed via phone, I've most often found that systems in this niche are setup faster via phone programming anyway. JMHO

Hopefully it doesn't replace the VS.

I saw some info on it yesterday. I was not impressed. I also saw that it uses proprietary connectors and not RJ11 jacks like the VS.

That sounds like it is the same thing as XBlue's 45P system. I've been told that the proprietary connectors will be phased out soon and will have modular jacks instead.

Honestly, I think the connectors are less trouble than putting modular plugs on. A single 25 pair cable can be terminated with these connectors, plug them into their respective jacks and never touch them again. Just cross connect the stations on a block as you would with any other system.

Well, the Xblue is the same as the Abrivo 924 system, and I believe that the Abrivo can be PC administere if you have the vmail card; so one could presume they might do that on the new Iwatsu too....unless I am wrong about that - never seen an Abrivo in person.

That's true Ed. Never really thought of doing it that way. When we install a VS, we use the small 66 blocks with 2 pair tails pre-installed. The Siemon part number is S66M425-2T2-8. I know a lot of sound equipment has moved away from barrier strips and XLR connectors and is now using Phoenix (euro block) connectors. They are much easier to work with and take a lot less time on an install.

You will need the Option Card and a serial connection to program the system via a PC, or program it through the telephone. The same serial port is used for programming and SMDR output. The voice mail is programmable via a web browser and RJ45 connection.

We had one in our shop a few weeks back and installed it as a Beta. It is the same system as the XBlue and Abrivo, just re-branded. It is pretty slick for a small system and priced right.
