I'm back in my office in the flooded part of New Orleans after 5 months since Hurricane Katrina. BellSouth says that I have 1 out dial group with 12 terminals on a fiber connector that they laid just for us. I know the phone number of the group.

I have access to the software on my pc for the Iwatsu sysem. Getting a tech out here will be 2-3 weeks and I really don't want to wait. With 2/3 of New Orleans being repaired, the demand for phone people is almost as great as FEMA trailer guys.

I have an Iwatsu Omega with 156 station ports and 80 trunk ports.

How do I find out what trunk contains the working lines? How do I make it the only active trunk and add more as BellSouth gets them connected.

Just so you guys know I'm serious, I drive by a school parking lot every morning to check if BellSouth has put gasoline in the generator that powers the portable switch that connects my working T1.

I would LOVE to get any phone capability, we have to go outside to use our cell phones. I'm a mainframe, network geek of 30 years but have minimal phone experience.

How does bellsouth have the lines coming into your building for you, are they individually marked on a block, or are they coming over a T-1 directly or to a channel bank?? A better description of the service that is coming into the building would help us to try to help. Does the system have a T-1 card in it (blue card that says T1DTI, or DTI-PRI, DTI-T1)
