I am looking into an ESI Communication server for our company, and am wondering about cordless 802.11G or B phones. I see that ESI advertises an IP cordless phone, but it communicates over 900MHz from the phone to the base, and then IP from base to the phone server.
I need phones that we can roam around our facility with, using our existing 802.11G infrastructure. Is this possible with anything from ESI, and if not, can you use a 3rd party 802.11G SIP phone?

My bet is you will make out much better with an analog cordless phone or cordless headset. We have had great luck with the Plantronics Calisto wireless headset.
A standard cordless phone will not work in my situation. We have 3 buildings (Main office, shop, and 2nd office). All 3 are close by, and have existing 802.11b/g wifi covering the entire area. I want our roaming employees to be able to carry their phone between buildings and still make / receive calls.
Is this possible with ESI? I am looking into an NEC SV8100 system, and from what I understand, they have phones that will accomplish this.
I know this is a different question from the original thread topic, but does anyone have any experience with the NEC SV8100 system?
