DCS software is Caller ID ready only past a certain version right? Its like the older software does not have it but the new software does?
I guess the trick would be finding out exactly which version has the Caller ID software.

I suppose thats true I never sold it before version 3.3 and it had it then. The old trunk cards weren't capable of it either. You need a trunk card that has a 1 at the end like a trunk C1.My guess is that the 32 pin eprom cabinets are ok.I'll see if I can find out what version cid first appeared.
Ok the best I can tell you is that caller id came out in release 2 software and it seems at that time there was a caller id and a non caller id release. Thats pretty old software though, you should look for something newer.

The iDCS 100 may be easier to figure out the Caller ID situation.
If I purchased the system, it would have 8 digital trunks, 1 DLI card(8) now I have 16.
Now I either need a
2 outside lines/4 digital extension card or 2 outside line/4 analog extension(SLI) lines.
If I wanted to have the extra digital extensions(20 total), I would still need a few extensions for analog devices such as fax machine/Caller ID logger(the type you buy a Bestbuy)
Is it feasible to connect the Fax machine, regular caller ID before the system.
Caller ID does not make any calls.
Fax machine is almost never used for sending, only receiving.
Would there be a problem with voice quality if the signal was split bypassing the phone system.
Do you guys have a method of doing this or do you just use cheap phone line splitters or 3 wires going into the Dmark, 1 for phone system, 1 for caller ID and 1 for fax machine (is that dangerous/forbidden, etc...)
I guess I only have 3 universal slots of the idcs 100 and it would be nice to keep one open for voicemail.
I'm just thinking out loud here.
Thanks.

Are you only running 1 outside telephone line?If so,how does the fax know when to answer?Maybe the 2SLI card could run your fax and your call display logger (if we're talking release 2 system). You could put the fax and call display unit in front of the phone system.Either way release 1 or 2 ,the 2 SLI card is a fairly cheap way to run 2 analog devices. In fact if release 1 is good enough for what you want (ie no sli call display) then a 50 Si system would be another choice as a used system. The 100 was the replacement for the 50 and the feature set is basically the same.

The 50Si has
1. 3 universal slots with 8 digital extensions build int?
2. Caller ID(name/number)? Special equipment/software needed for Caller ID or does it already come with it?
3. Use the New Falcon phones?
4. Call Logs for each Station?
Also, what exactly give the iDCS 100 the ability to have CID to analog extensions. What type of extra hardware is needed go to from No CID to analog extensions-to-Caller ID for analog extensions?
There is an entire VOIP hardware kit that needed which is pretty expensive just for the CID to analog feature right?
Thanks.

The 100 uses a different misc card to generate the call display to analog.Essentially it contains the fsk generators to recreate the call display signal. Then new software to make it all work. You do not need a Voip system to have it.
The 100 was the replacement for the 50 and the DLI cards, trunk cards,2 SLI card are the same.It even looks the same. They were pretty much the same until the release 2 100 came along which added more features. Different expansion cabinets (2 different ones). Can handle a PRI .
Yes the 50 has 3 built in universal slots with 8 built in digital ports.Different expansion cabinets (2 different ones). Needs a misc 1 card for caller id. Uses the Falcon or iDCS series phones with the right software version. Call display logs of up tp 50 per station.

Have you tried speaking with a dealer? They would be able to consult with you on a system and give you a price on your different options. I have installed lots of Samsungs in homes and there are so many configurations possible. Samsung has a lot of good packages right now some of which fit your needs. Check with an authorized Samsung dealer and I'm sure they will help you out.
