HI I have an NEC NEAX2400 system, when I go to perform any task in the menu I get an error 001C Password Protection. This system is old and there is no paskey dongal of any sort. Any suggestions on how to fix this or how this may have happened?

Been 10 years, but the 3 I worked on had a password in software. If you're 'the new guy', start asking who last accessed it and then get the PW from them. Of course, if they were 'let go', this COULD be a problem!  John C.

No I wish tha was the case. But i've been here a while, and we've never had a password other than to login.

This has nothing to do with your password. It means that your security key may be going bad per NEC. You can call NEC and they will unlock it for you. They will need modem access. Before I had my customer spend thousands of dollars for another key, I moved the mat to another position on the IO card. You can try this, but you have to first call NEC to unlock it for you. They will do this a few times for you and then they will tell you to purchase another security key. Of course, you can only call the NEC NTAC if you are a certified technician on the 2400.

check the back of your mat pc to see if there is a secuirty key attached.

I should qualify that because in Oz the 2400 range ended with the Sim, IMG & MMG about 14 years ago
