Holly asked this question in an email:

We have a phone that has a slow flashing led light. I have read our manuals and can’t figure out how to make it stop. In the manual, it say that there is a message from attendant. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? It is an Electra Professional (NEC). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's a message from the attendant don't you hit that flashing button and shouldn't it ring the attendant who sent it...if that's what that flashing light is?
I don't know squat about the users end on the NEC phones.

The electra proffessional works a bit different from newer systems where the station with the message waiting simply dials the initiating party and the light goes out.

Check to see if the receptionist happens to have a DSS Console. The DSS console is the only means on the Professional and Elite series to send a "Message Waiting" indication. The corresponding button on the console for that particular station should have an LED lit green. If I recall, the first button on next to last row (button 43?) of console was the message waiting button. Simply press the MW button, then the associated station button (with green LED) and the light should go out.
