we have it hooked up to a digital port just like a phone, have assigned dss 1 to the correct station, but in the programming for the port its attached to there is no selection for a dss and the keys don't work even with the defaults already selected on it. Are we missing something easy here or maybe a bad dss?
any help is greatly appreciated
thanks

On th DSX the DSS
  • Uses it own digial station port
  • Will auto ID them selves when plugged into a digital station Port
  • Will show up as ports 301,302,303,and 304 in program 1202-01 when plugged in
  • The owner extension is programmed in program 2401
  • an extension can own two if software is 1.01.32 or higher
  • feature keys are set in program 24-02

I forgot to actually answer your question. In program 1202 renumber the port it is plugged into to 301, 302, 303 or 304 depending on if it's you first 2nd 3rde or 4th dss

ttech,
If 300 is the operator ,wouldnt it make sense to to connect the dss @ 301 and make a match and standardize systems with the 300/301 like a Tosh with the 000/007 dss .With out renumbering a port.
9 out of systems would only have 1 dss and on a go back it would be standard ?

Just a thought.

It is PORT number not Extension number. I know. It is odd but it's how they decided to do it. Also For external voicemails you renumber the ports to 200's

Here is a sample of what it looks like with a dss on port 16 [Linked Image from i2.photobucket.com]

so if you have ext 301 on port 301 and you decide to add DSS you can move ext 301 to another available port and put the console on port 301

Yes you can Skip, but to save the numbering hassle I would put the DSS on the last port.

This has nothing to do with extension numbers. It has to do with Port numbers.

You can pretty much give the extensions what ever number you want.

I used 2 digits once on a DS1000 that replaced a partner, And it worked fine until they later got the Intramail and the Intramail would not work with 2 digits. I have a DSx numbered 120-135 because that is what the Iwatsu it replaced used.
