This is about an XTS-IP, but we have encountered the same issues on STS as well. I am not sure on the SBX, we have only done a handful of those and it has not come up. I also apologize for the length, but I want to be clear.

What they want: Call to go to a station and ring for 10 seconds, then ring at an additional station for 10 seconds, then ring at a third station for an additional 15 seconds, all the time keeping the previous station(s) ringing as well. This can be easily done using call coverage and setting the timer to different lengths.

Problem is if the phone is ringing at station 1, station 3 goes off hook, they pick up the incoming call (even though it is not really ringing, call coverage button still works, just the way it is in the system).

What we do is set up three hunt groups; call comes in to auto attendant, is routed to hunt group 1 that includes the fist station and a virtual or SLT. There is a call coverage button on Station 1 for the virtual station or SLT with timer a zero. It is no answer forward to Hunt group 2 which has Station 1, 2, the first SLT or Virtual , and an additional SLT or virtual that is covered on station 2. Same process for third hunt group, etc. The call coverage has to be done since a busy station in a hunt group will not ring if another call is placed into the hunt group.

It seems complicated, but it is the only way that we have really been able to get it to work reliably and tech support agrees. I was wondering if someone has a better idea to try or any thoughts. I have no problems with this solution, just seem overly complicated.

Thanks!

I think that you are doing the right thing by using virtual extensions, since you don't waste resources. Yes, it would be the same on both the STSe and the XTS, assuming they all have current software levels.

I'd focus on using CFNA from the virtual extensions and forget about call coverage or wasting hunt groups. It is still overly-complicated, but it saves a step.

Would I still not have to have a hunt group since I want more than a single station to ring?

I am going to try the CFNA (with like 1 second)from the virtual to the physical station instead of the Call Coverage button when I get back to the office. Sounds like it would work but sounds like and does is two different things.
