I have only one customer that uses the 2801-xx telephones and they have a total of 72 sets. They were installed around 18 months ago. They have had approximately 12 " go bad ". Some won't ring anymore. Some have low volume issues. I have to turn around and send them in under manufacturers warranty and with the shipping, it is almost easier to just purchase a new one. The phones are in a nursing home only for their residents, so I don't believe they are being abused. Has anyone else had these sort of problems ? I am trying to sell them a Vodavi telephone system because they have a 12 yr. old Toshiba right now. But it will be hard to do if they think they will have the same problems with the Vodavi system, which they won't, as they do with the slt's.

adteldon, in my experience, the Vodavi S/L phones work very reliably. I only use the ones for hospitality, but the 2801 is one of those. Low volume: dropped handset several times? Won't ring, I assume you are checking the ring volume switch. Are these wall use or desk use or mixed? The 2 nursing homes I have maintained in the past seemed to be the most maintanence intensive customer I had. Phones took a TERRIBLE beating! AND, if you end up with any excess desk props, I need several. PM me and let's deal! John C.

I have installed hundreds of the 2700 series phones and had similar problems. Inside the phone there is a set of reset pins. Shorting across those pins would reset the phone and rectify the problem 90% of the time.

I have seen the handset cord jack on the phone bust numerous times in the schools we use them in. The teacher gets on the phone and walks out in the hall causing the stress on the jack and eventually the solder joints were breaking. We've either soldered them or sent them in for repair and replaced.
