In an XTS, I added one of these, programming set as type 13, shut it down, added card, powered on and reset. To get it to work I need the ring generator, AND a dtmf card for it? Otherwise, I can't call it's extensions=fast busy, and I won't get dial tone IC or CO?
Cause thats what I'm getting.
I have two LCOB's without the dtmf card, there is a little card at the top of the mpb1, is that a dtmf card.
please help the noob.

Yes, you need the ring generator if you expect calls to the SLT extensions to ring. DO NOT connect this to the system with the power on.
Yes, you will need a DTMF receiver unit (DTRU) for the SLT extensions to receive dial tone or to be able to dial anything. Without this, you will have station ports that can't dial anything, but they can still receive calls.
The "little card" on the MPB1 is likely an optional modem unit for remote programming. I assure you that it is not a DTMF card.

Ed, if anyone would know, I guess you would. I know DTRU is a shared resource on a cabinet. If a LCOB has one, will it also work with a SLIBE in the same cabinet? I have always considered them seperate, LCOB's would have their own DTRU shared between the boards and SLIB's would have their own shared between boards.

Nevermind, just left one of my XTS sites and noticed that SLIB's did not have DTRU's on them, but the LCOB's did. Then confirmed it by reading the manual....novel idea.

If this is the slt with caller ID, the card type is 16 not 13.

Yeah after I called Tech Support the lady told me to program it as type 13. Then, when I still couldn't get it to do anything, I called back and the second guy told me that it won't do anything without those cards. He did tell me about adding the card to the LCOB. I guess my main issue is that if I order a single line card, it's not totally unreasonable to expect ti to work out of the box. I'm sure there is a good reason why I'd want a single line card that I can't call or get dial tone on. I did read the manual and could see where it talked about adding the cards to that card. But 'cause I'm a little slow, I didn't realize that as far as options go, the option is-if I don't already have the optional cards in the system, it won't work.
