another friend (yeah, I know) asked me to find a decent loud bell/ringer for his home phone. I have a one that I got on clearance at Radio Shack that I use at home but I'd like to find something that is a little better quality. I'm wondering what you guys might recommend. The application is to wake him up in the middle of the night in case the city he works for calls him to plow snow in the winter.
Thanks,
Jeff

Edwards comes to mind. I sure there are other suppliers, but I only know of Graybar. John C.

Try this Krown AMPLIFIED RINGER 05 with strobe light model: K-RA005 120db.
We went through this exercise a couple of months ago with a very noisy shop area and this was the loudest ringer we could find. The Edwards B-KHS-1000-PP was almost as loud.

Dees makes a stinger ringer for noisy areas.
It'll wake him up in the middle of the night along with the rest of the block. :toothy:

Jeff -

I once installed a wheelock horn on the loading dock of a milk processing plant in a residential neighborhood in Queens.

It was so loud that the neighbors complained to the police. The cops came by, prepared to blow the complaint off - I mean, how loud could a bell be?

It went off when the cop was standing underneath it. The dockmaster said the cop jumped about 3 feet, pulled his gun, unplugged the horn and promised to shoot the dockmaster if it ever went off again.

I got a work order that day to install a new bell. Loud, but not that loud.

Yep the ol' wheelock bells and klaxon would blow you off your feet! But, even though you can still buy them, they are not as loud as they used to be. And that's fact, not old deaf f--t. Something to do with OSHA, don'cha know! John C.

Any ideas where I can get one quick? Sandman has them but the catalog pages are from 2001.
