A friend of mine asked me if there is some device to show if a phone line is in use...some sort of light that would go between the phone jack and the wall I am presuming. I looked on Sandman's site but didn't find anything...all I found were lights that flash if a line is ringing or if there is a voicemail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Jeff -

Either a WE 6B relay or a Melco (S64?) will do the job for you. Either will supply a contact closure when the line goes off hook.

Then you would need a power source and some sort of lamp.

Note: The contact closures on the Melco and the 6B are ONLY for Low Voltage and Low Current applications. If you wanted to light a 120V lamp or something similar you would have to get another relay - one with a low voltage coil and high voltage contacts. Use the 6B to operate the HV relay and use that relay's contacts to operate the lamp. Relays with LV coils and HV contacts can be found at electrical supply houses.

or just buy an inexpensive phone that has the feature like a Nortel Vista 100 or Maestro 2500.

The only thing that nonameyet's description brings to my admmittedly abused mind is slide-base station lamps, jammed in between the L and LG terminals on the 66 block. Obviously that's only going to work on 1A2 type systems. Anybody? John C.

The things I'm trying to remember looked like clear plastic that had bridge clips built into it
and a LED that was green that sat off to the side ?

Next Time I see one, I'll take a picture!
