Quick question for anyone who might like to help.

I recently had a CIX-40 system donated to my church. I'm interested in putting in a GVPH1A VM and AA card. Does anyone know if you have to buy license for the voicemail ports or is it simply pop the card in and run with full functionality?

Also, I've seen that it requires UADMIN2 to configure the voice mail. Is this true? Is this built into EManager or is it a completely separate piece of software?

Thanks for your help!

No, there should not be any licensing issues for the Voice Mail card.

UAdmin21 is NOT part of eManager. It is a separate piece of software for the Stratagy Voice mail card. This software is proprietary and you may have to get it from a Toshiba Dealer. You will also need a PPTC-9 serial adapter to connect the mod cord from the VM card to your laptop Com1 port.

Great, thanks for the info. The system also has a GIPH IP card in it. Is that pretty much useless without any licenses for end points, or can it be used for anything without licenses?

I'm thinking if your CIX40 came with a GIPH card in it, it may have licenses already no?

I don't believe so. Kind of a long story, but I put this system in one of my small outside offices a while back and got the IP card in anticipation of when we replaced our good ol' 280 with a 670 here in the home office. Fast-forward 18 months, we ended up not going with Toshiba for our new main system, so this unit was pulled out of the remote office and I talked them into donating it to my church.
I didn't explicitly purchase any licenses with the card, I was planning on going down that road when we upgraded here and tied the offices together over the VPN.
So unless the GIPH card comes standard with some licenses that I didn't know about at the time, I don't think I have any.
I don't forsee myself or my church ever actually buying any license so if it requires licenses to have any functionality at all I imagine I'll just ebay it.

Sounds like the IP card is useless as is. You will need licenses for it to work.

Just for giggles you should check the licensing of your switch, because sometimes when these cards and phones are purchase they can come bundled with licenses

Good idea, I'll do that. Would emanager tell me if there are licenses entered on the system? (Sorry, I haven't been in emanager in about 18 months and don't have it setup right now to check it out, and I don't remember what all is in there.)
